GENERAL MANAGER - NORTH SOMERSET
Salary: Excellent + Benefits - Dependant on skills and competencies.
Our cutting-edge partnership contract with North Somerset Council is worth £2.5 million annually and involves multiple services. We are looking for a General Manager to ensure the contract runs smoothly. The contract operates every day of the week from 6am to 8pm, and entails street cleansing, recycling services, beach management, grounds maintenance, and arboriculture. At peak times, the contract employs 60 staff.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As a member of the regional senior team, you will work alongside a team of Supervisors to deliver the contract requirements. You will need to possess excellent people management skills, be adaptable, able to work independently and possess problem-solving skills. Understanding the needs of a modern, customer-focused service and the community will be crucial. The role is based in Weston-super-Mare, and the ideal candidate will be a proactive manager, with a talent for operational, financial, and commercial management. As a hands-on role, it will require you to monitor KPIs, quality, and performance, taking quick and effective measures to maintain high productivity, top-notch quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability. You will be responsible for ensuring that this best-practice contract runs smoothly, continually improving to meet the needs of all stakeholders, and evolving the service over a long-term delivery programme.
THE PERSON
The ideal candidate should have a qualification in grounds maintenance, street cleansing, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a similar role. It is also essential to hold a valid UK driver's license. The role involves ensuring that all work meets quality and safety standards, while also keeping a tight control on costs, programming, and monitoring of work. Good time management and administrative skills are also required, along with excellent communication and people management skills.
